The Council agenda for Tuesday, June 17 (note: not Monday) includes a staff report reviewing impact of new Stats Canada information on our Phase 2 Growth Management and Employment Land Strategy. In February Council endorsed a series of recommendations which are now being revised to include the new Stats Canada information. There are minor modifications to the population base for King City and Schomberg and there are larger variances to the bases frr Nobleton and the remaining rural area. The increase in the population base for Nobleton has created a larger forecast deficit for the community area. In the report options for community area expansion in Nobleton are presented.
As always deputations can be made. To do so please register at clerks@king.ca by noon on June 17 or If you prefer you can e-mail your comments to clerks@king.ca and they will be distributed to Council members and appropriate staff.
Nobody minds population growth -it’s a fact of life and Canada as a whole needs more people – esp. young, strong, capable, willing-to-work people BUT let’s not ruin what is here with ill considered recommendations from staff who clearly don’t know the community they are serving.
Case in point: it is NUTS to put a 6-7 story condo with 91-99 units and 106 parking spaces with very few spaces for visitors in the middle of Schomberg Village with the driveway entrance in/out of Main Street which already has severe congestion issues.
