Here is a progress report on the construction of the roundabout at Lloydtown Aurora Road and Keele. As everyone knows who has been through the intersection, activity has started. This report answers some questions I have already received.
Two general pieces of information:
there will be progress reports throughout the project;
you can register to receive reports directly into your email inbox; details on how to do are provided.
Just returned from Italy where roundabouts are the norm and traffic lights the exception. Large lorries as well as cars moved easily between exits. In fact the system forces you to slow down, take note of other drivers intentions and yield to traffic within the circle when entering. In some high intensity usage roundabouts stop signs where also in use. Even on the toll highway lanes were clearly divided by speed into a fast (100), medium (80) and slow lanes (70 k). When in the fast lane a driver is expected to move out of the way when a driver approaches you. No trucks are permitted in the fast lane and are generally limited to 80 k an hour. Great driving experience!
