Special Council Meeting on December 7

An additional Council meeting has been scheduled for Monday, December 7 at 6PM to accommodate a required Public Meeting regarding applications for an Official Plan Amendment and Zoning By-law amendment in King City, specifically in Kingscross Estates, to enable creation of an additional lot.  As is usual practice, the Staff report will be available on the Township website on the preceeding Wednesday or Thursday.  Meetings such as this are the opportunity for public to understand the applications and to voice their point of view or to ask questions. Here is the official notice of the meeting.

    Hi Debbie

Is there a draft of the intended amendment?

    Can I see it?

Hello Hans, If there is a draft of the amendment PRIOR to the public meeting, it will be made available on the Wednesday or Thursday before 12/7 Council meeting. But, I don’t anticipate a draft being presented. This meeting is the statutory public meeting required by the Planning Act. Purpose of the meeting is for the application to be presented to the public, for the applicant to explain it, for the Planning Staff to present their analysis of it and to identify any outstanding issues/questions; it is also the opportunity for members of the public to ask questions, to make comments either in support or in opposition. In my experience to date with such meetings, the recommendation is to refer the matter back to Staff to get more information based on gaps they have identified themselves and/or based on Council direction; the latter is often in response to what is heard from members of the public. When I made the original post I didn’t have a digital copy of the notice about the meeting; I have it now and have now added it to the post. The notice includes some details about the application.
