The Greatest Gift

From time to time we hear stories in the media about the shortage of organs for transplants and the long waiting lists.  At a recent Council meeting we heard a presentation about this supply/demand imbalance and learned about one big step for addressing it.  A couple key points I heard:

  •  if someone registers, that one person could save up to 8 lives and enhance the life of many more
  • a donor does not need not to be the picture of youthful health
  •  if one wants assurance that a life saving transplant would be available to someone in need, it is necessary to register; carrying a signed donor card does not provide this assurance.

Registering as a donor might be the greatest gift you ever give.

You can do your registration right here; it will take you 5 minutes.  For more information about registration (e.g. how you can change your mind) click here-at the top of the page you will see frequently asked questions (FAQ); they are very comprehensive.

Debbie, thanks for making this website and process known to others. Thank you also to you and King Township for promoting the organ and tissue donor program.

Hi Bruce, I really hope that this campaign results in a significantly longer list of registered donors. Debbie
