Public Planning Meeting for Townhouses in King City

Aug 22, 2022 | Developments | 0 comments

Tuesday September 6 there is a Public Planning Meeting.  (Typically these meetings are the first Monday of the month but as the first Monday of September is a statutory holiday it is being held on the Tuesday.)  It is for a draft subdivision and  zoning bylaw amendment for lands immediately west of the King City Library and Seniors Centre, specifically 1986, 2000, and 2008 King Road.  The applications are to enable the development of 3-storey townhouse with 26 dwelling units.  In 2021 there were public meetings for two different projects, each by different owners.  The properety has now been consolidated into new single ownership (Fifth Avenue Homes).  I have not reviewed the application yet but I do recall that both of the earlier ones presented  housing options which werre desirable and the location was ideal.  I also recall that the proposal for 1986 King Road was very progressive in terms of energy conservation and other sustainable features. I hope that this has not been lost.

Public Planning meetings are the opportunity for public to ask questions and to register comments either in support or in opposition.  As always you can register to make a deputation with clerks@king.ca by noon on Sept. 6 or you can send in your comments by email to same address.  As we are continuing to hold our Council meetings remotely you may livestream the meeting. The Staff report will be posted on the web on Thursday Sept.1. Here is the notice for the meeting .
