On November 29 council agenda there is a report on the village urban design guideline review and there is a draft discussion paper. At time of writing this post I haven’t had opportunity to read and reflect about the ideas presented.  The topic is important as this is what will guide how new buildings ( infill, new subdivisions, employment building) look.   The topic is usually challenging; it’s not really about “personal taste” but when we talk about it we often talk about whether one likes it or not and that really is not what design guidelines are about.  I hope we will have continued engagement by the community in developing these new guidelines. If you are interested I urge you to attend the Monday council meeting as there will be a presentation on the topic.  On our speaking platform you can access recording of information sessions held earlier and the draft discussion paper is posted there too.
