On the September 28 Council agenda there is a memo from Community Services advising of a change in the nomination time period for the Volunteer Appreciation Awards.  As reviewed in the report the current timeline for the period of nomination and assessment of 4 weeks is not long enough. The brief time inhibits opportunity for public to make robust nominations and it is too short for the nominations to be assessed and proposed to Council. I do agree that the change in time period is important. And to confirm:   all that is being modified is the time period; no other changes in the program are being proposed.

This particular report is called a Communication report for purposes of  information only; members of the public are not permitted to speak to communication items.  Given how important and valued the volunteer appreciation awards program is I am very pleased that there has been complete disclosure of this change.
