Walk For Memories

Walk For Memories  has a new venue:  the beautiful campus of Seneca College on Dufferin in King City.  The 5 km walk is on Sunday May 26 and starts at 10AM.  I can’t imagine a more pleasant way to participate in the battle against the horrors of Alzheimer’s disease.  I will be making the walk as other several other members of Council.  It would be great to see you there!

Walks For Memories are hosted across Ontario by the various Alzheimer Societies.  York Region’s Society actually hosts two of which one is at Seneca.  The Walks are dedicated to increasing awareness and raising funds for vital programs and services that support people living with Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias.  When researching the scope of their services at I was gratified to see that it was not limited to those who are diagnosed as being afflicted.  As early detection can make a difference the Society works to increase understanding of indicators.  As the strain on the care givers is huge the Society pays attention to their needs too.

You can register to participate in Walk For Memories here A 5 km walk at beautiful Seneca is a great way to spend a Sunday morning! You can make a donation at the same place:  make a pledge for yourself when you register and/or make a pledge for some other walker.  All funds from this walk will be assigned to the activities of the York Region Alzheimer Society.
