Earlier i made a post about the recommended 2024 water and wastewater rate report on the November 13, Council agenda. I have just realized that I neglected to draw attention to the proposed changes to the water bills for those living in condominiums. I think the change is appropriate in that it is more fair. Staff are proposing to remove tier pricing for residential condos. There is only 1 pipe which provides water to a condo; accordingly it is inevitable that the variable portion of the water bill to the condo includes tier 1,2 and 3 pricing. The condo board then divides that across the units and every unit has a water bill incorporating all 3 tiers. As noted in the report there is a small cost impact to the Township of $110,000 which will be recovered by increasing the variable rate by $.20/cubic meter. To ensure billing fairness and to further encourage conservation as of January 1, 2024 its recommended that developers are to be directed to provide individual water metering to each separate unit per conditions identified in the report.
