York Region Masterplan on Transportation–provide input

York Region is initiating its update of the Transportation Plan for York Region.  This plan is the “blueprint” to address the transportation and mobility needs of those living and working in York Region.  It covers public transit, roads, trails; it considers all forms of mobility:  vehicles, cycles, foot.  The plan was done in 2009 with a time horizon of 25 years.  This update is now starting and will be completed 2016.  There are many ways to give input:  attend public information sessions, provide input by email, answer surveys.  Click here to for more information.

As I have been campaigning transportation has been raised.  Comments have been made about:

  • the need for public transit to get people to the Yonge Street Corridor so that access to VIVA routes is feasible
  • lack of accessiblity to the programs at Trisan Center because of need to drive from King City
  • King Road congestion
  • congestion at Keele/King Road

I urge you to get involved and provide input.

First round of public information sessions are not in King but you can still attend one in a neighbouring municipality and/or  you email your comments.  Click here for contact info and sessions.
