On May 25 Council agenda there is a report covering a zoning bylaw amendment application for a property at 16230 Bathurst St. The purpose of the application is to develop a commercial greenhouse, garden centre, farm produce outlet, farm help accommodation and open storage. To assess the application there is need for considerable review of the Oak Ridges Moraine Conservation Plan (ORMCP) as the lands in question are designated being natural core and linkage. From looking at the renderings for the project and reviewing the statistics about its size it is truly an ambitious project. The one area of concern which jumps out at me is the significant impermeable surface being created by the parking lot to provide 290 permanent parking spaces and 40 temporary parking spaces. Where is all the rainwater going to go and will it reach the aquifers of the ORM? To see all the appendices go to Council agenda and scroll to 6.1.
This is a statutory public meeting; accordingly there will be no decisions made by Council except at minimum to direct staff to continue their review.
As always deputations are permitted and if you wish to make one you must contact clerks@ king.ca by noon on May 25; deputations can be made in person or remotely. You also have the option of sending in your comments by e-mail and they will be routed to appropriate staff and council members.
