Keele/King Road Intersection Makeover

During the last couple weeks I have been asked about the construction activity at Keele/King Road on the south west corner and the apparently neglected, once beutiful garden on the north west corner.  I am not surprised that people are asking as it has been over a year since funding and plan was announced and the actual construction is slow.  Here is a report on the plan with engineering and architectural drawings of what is being built.

Thank you got your update. When I first discovered the early plans for the redevelopment of this corner, approximately one year ago, I found them to appear hard and cold, not something soft and welcoming. Now, that I see them in colour, I’m sorry to say that I am still not favourably impressed. The corner is already hard and cold due to the traffic, noise, speeding vehicles, etc. In my own opinion, and I don’t really expect others to agree with me because I’m just a country girl who has lived in King City all of my life, compared with the majority of new residents who may prefer a more citified look. In fact, for me, the only thing that made travelling through the intersection
worthwhile, other than getting from one place to another, was being able to enjoy the garden at the northwest corner which was so lovingly put together and maintained by volunteers. I actually looked forward to seeing the garden and all its beauty. It appears that the redevelopment of this corner is in keeping with what the corner has become – like downtown Toronto.

Hello Kay, Thanks for sharing your feelings about the changes. I am certainly not going to try and persuade you to change your mind; I do hope though that once it is built and the landscape features are established that you will find some pleasure in it. Having said that I am sorry that you are disappointed. Debbie
