King Climate Action Plan: more consultation

Feb 6, 2022 | Debbie in the Community, The Issues | 0 comments

Contrary to the Staff recommendation to endorse the King Climate Action Plan (KCAP), Council referred  the draft plan back to Staff to take into account the deputations made at the January 21st council meeting and to allow for more community consultation. As I had indicated in my post for that council meeting I was prepared to endorse it; but the feedback presented by the deputations was persuasive in terms of saying that more information about choices being made was required and that there needed to be more consultation. The KCAP is now posted at speaking.king as is the powerpoint presented at the Council meeting is also posted. If you have not been engaged with this very important plan, as of yet, I strongly encourage you to start by looking at the powerpoint.   Your input is very much needed as it is to be the plan for how the community can respond to the climate emergency. As indicated on the speaking.king platform Staff will be identifying how the extended consultation time will be managed.
