On Council agenda on March 2 there is the statutory public meeting for an application for a Zoning Bylaw Amendment to enable several modifications to lot sizes in the Scouli Development which is part of the development at northeast King City. As reviewed in the report the proposal is to reduce the width of the lots and reduce various setbacks to enable the developer to add an additional 5 lots. As its the statutory public meeting there is no decision; the recommendation from Staff is for Council to refer the report back to staff to further review the application with the benefit of the input from the various Agencies and other Township staff and the comments received at this meeting. To see all the appendices go to Council agenda and scroll to 6.2
When I first read the report I was somewhat surprised as the market is so slow and developments are proceeding so slowly. Why in today’s market do they want an additional 5 lots? Then I read that “the applicant has proposed the reduced lot sizes to add additional unit types and variety for potential buyers seeking a more affordable option.” This sound very good; but the question is how do we get assurance that at the time of sale that it really will be “more affordable.” Which definition of affordable will be used?
As always deputations can be made. To do so please register at clerks@king.ca by noon on March 2 or If you prefer you can e-mail your comments to clerks@king.ca and they will be distributed to Council members and appropriate staff.

We need smaller, simpler designed homes. Go back to 3 bedroom,1400 sq ft, or 4 bedroom 1500 sq ft, with rectangular roofs and a basement. Super insulated for heat and cooling savings. This would be at a far better price range for many.
Hi Brad….yes a better price but very importantly it would continue to be at a better price range, even with resales.
