Take a bus to King City Go Train

Effective January 14th there will be a new bus route operating in King Township:  route 61 will be a weekday rush hour service for travel throughout the Township and it is timed to meet two GO trains in each direction.  Here is the detailed schedule and map.

In November 2011 Council passed a resolution asking York Region to consider shuttle services as one means of addressing the inadequate parking at the King City GO train station.  It has taken a long time but we are actually getting more as Route 61 goes through the whole township; hence there are numerous opportunities for picking it up.

In addition, Route 61 provides an option for King City Secondary School students.  And it is the 1st step in providing a means for those outside King City to access the broader YRT network.

As is always the case with public transit, there needs to be riders!  Extensive advertising campaign is planned.  In addition I would ask you to spread the word.  And, if you use the GO train, take Route 61!

Customers travelling on Route 61 to connect with GO Transit train pay just $.75 cents with valid GO fare media.

I’m encouraged to read about the new Bus Route 61, which is designed as a rush hour service to coincide with the GO Train service through King City. I believe this is a positive opportunity to address the parking issues at the GO Station, and to provide transit access to the GO Train for commuters throughout King Township. I very much hope Route 61 is a success.
