What Do You Think about the draft Tree Bylaw?

As reported earlier a draft bylaw for trees has been proposed and feedback from you is very much wanted.  As of a few days ago there is an online consultation process which you can use to provide feedback, to ask questions and to learn more about it. I believe a tree bylaw is required as we need our trees for both their aesthetic value and their functionality.  The latter has grown in importance because of climate change; trees sequester carbon, provide cooling, enhance drainage and absorption of rainfall.  Yes, it may cost some money but what is the cost of not having one? I think the draft one is creative and achieves the strategic goal of protecting and growing the canopy in our 3 villages.  Please read it over and provide feedback either directly to me or by using speaking.king.ca.

To use this online tool you do need to register at speaking.king.ca; once you have registered you can use it for other initiatives for which Township is seeking your feedback. If you have difficulties registering please contact our communications officer at jballantyne@king.ca.
