Yes, you can park on King Road!

Parking on King Road near business centers of King City and Nobleton has been approved for off peak periods!!  This is good news on many fronts.  On street parking is valuable for businesses in the area.  Street parking provides a buffer from the heavy traffic on King Road for pedestrians.  And, street parking by its nature tends to calm the traffic on the other lanes.

Although approved it is not yet effective; don’t start parking in new areas before the signs are erected!

In King City parking allowed on King Road

  • from Warren Road to Banner Lane/William Street and
  • from Banner Lane/William Street to Keele Street

except Monday-Friday 7-9 AM and 3-6 PM.

And stopping is now allowed on King Road from Keele Street to 60 meters east of Keele Street except for the same peak hours as above.  (Currently no stopping allowed here.)

In Nobleton parking allowed on King Road

  • from 366 meters east of Wellar Avenue to Wellar Avenue and
  • from Royal Avenue to Wellington Street

except Monday-Friday 7-9 AM and 3-6 PM.

note: 1 hour parking on King Rd Hwy 27 to Wellington has been rescinded.

Do NOT park in the above new areas until the signs are posted; now that Staff report has been approved the governing bylaws will be written for approval and signs erected.

Here is a link to the YR report on these changes; also provides insight into changes requested but not approved.

It will be a pleasure to actually walk up to a storefront from the street instead of watching the drive thru we see now. Hopefully revitilization of the downtown core will follow shortly as residents discover not all shopping happens in just shopping plaza’s.
